About

My name is Jason Spak.  I’m a lawyer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – the City of Champions.  I’ve been defending lawsuits involving the Fair Credit Reporting Act – the FCRA – since 2003.  This blog is a place to discuss issues that arise in FCRA cases.

I studied government at the University of Notre Dame and earned a law degree, with honors, at the University of Michigan.  After finishing law school, I worked at two large international law firms – first Jones Day (2002-2006) and then Reed Smith (2006-2009).  After deciding that I liked working on smaller cases more than the giant ones that those firms handle, I left “big law” and am now at FisherBroyles.  I still do sophisticated work, but I do it at much lower rates and on much smaller defense teams than I did previously.

I first learned about the FCRA at Jones Day, which handles most FCRA lawsuits filed against Experian.  I continued to handle FCRA suits at Reed Smith and am still doing so at FisherBroyles.  Though I am based in Pittsburgh, I handle FCRA cases nationwide, through local counsel where necessary.
